Huawei Ascend G300 Android 4.0 update released by Vodafone UK

After a few months of slightly unofficial availability, Vodafone has now started pushing its “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the popular Huawei Ascend G300 out via the standard over-the-air update method for those who bought the cheap Android model through the network.

There seems to be quite a fiddly method outlined by the network which involves installing an initial update for the G300′s 2.3 software which will then let users install the 4.0 code…

…with the end result being a phone that’s definitely worth its £100 super-bargain price tag. Read all about the update process over on Vodafone’s forum.

Beware! Do not upgrade! You will end up with very slow phone – it freezes, buttons unresponsive all the time. Desktop loads few seconds when you hit home button.
I wish I didn’t upgrade, the phone which was good now is rubbish and there is no official option for downgrade!!!!

Agree 100% with alex. I loved my phone before this ‘upgrade’. Now it is a infuriating pile of sh1t. Too many problems to name but the latest has practically immobilised my phone. Going back to shop tomorrow. Cant emphasise enough, DONT DO THE UPGRADE.
