Nexus 4 priced at £239 and £279 for the UK

This is amazing. This is LITERALLY amazing. Google’s online direct sale site now includes the just-announced Nexus 4, revealing that the LG made Android 4.2 phone will launch for a SIM-free price of just £239 for the 8GB version of the handset. That has just blown the entire mobile phone world into A MILLION TINY PIECES.

The 16GB version of the Nexus 4 is also listed by Google in the UK, costing just £279. Both are 3G versions. We suspect LG might well have finally found the Android model that’ll sell quite a few units. Amazing. LOOK. LOOK AT THAT NUMBER:

Check the prices out here. We simply can’t quite believe they’re real. At that price, who won’t be buying one?

“At that price, who won’t be buying one?”
Well, I won’t. I found out I live in the wrong part of Europe. Again.
“Sorry! Devices on Google Play is not available in your country yet.”
    Damn it :)

Still got stupid 5 months on my 24 month contract. I might still buy one in a couple of months time, and get a sim only contract. This price is really attractive.

16GB max memory! :) have they not learned from htc ? they have had to release the one x+ with 64GB. that is more sensible. i am really sad as i had hoped for at least 32 which i would have bought.

I have a feeling they’ll release a 32gb version few months later, just like they did with the nexus7.

and having checked google web site, the 16GB is not even available yet. only 8GB. no expansion. and i don’t live on google campus with WiFi everywhere. not even ubiquitous 2g, let alone 3g or LTE.

Neither are “available” yet as they’re both not yet… available. Given that these are priced at HALF the cost of the HTC One X at launch, I think you have to be prepared to compromise a little somewhere.

Unfortunately it only has 8 or 16GB onboard. That is nowhere near my need. I will pass.

Great price but 2 things are missing. Nexus 4 would be perfect with SD card slot and radio.

I disagree, it needs a toaster and a curling tongs to be complete.

Pal, you have to be joking – a superphone for £239 SIM Free and you are whinging about radios and SD card slots. Go and buy another phone that does have an SD card slot and a similar spec, for around £400+

@Rob Thompson: Please read with attention. Firstly I said “Great price” and I think it is a bargain phone. Secondly I said “would be perfect” it is still very good phone. “I disagree, it needs a toaster and a curling tongs to be complete” offcourse You got right to disagree and maybe you expect different features in your handset. Please be aware that other users might have different expectations as for the phone features. There are people who would like to listen radio on the go or be able to expand phone’s memory and that might deter them from purchase.

the limit in expansion slots is a downer, but i’ll buy one at this price even if it is only 8gb :-p

If I didn’t have another 12 months to go, then I would seriously consider this even with “only” 16Gb. It’s a shame there’s no 32Gb model due out, but then that would mean the LG Optimus G would be rather redundant.

I recently bought The Bards Tale, that’s 3.35Gb also Horn (during the Google 25 billion app offer) is 1.73Gb.

I’d have to delete some of my music & videos to “squeeze” my data into the remaining user memory. The obvious thing is that it would have less bloatware than my One X even though I rather like HTC Sense

Pricing is competitive and really compelling. Still I’m going to get one from the US where the 16 Gb is still cheaper than the UK 8Gb!

After killing the 7 inch Android tablet market, Google now kills the Android phone market as wel. Way to go Google,..

    @Hasan and @Adrian68

You may be part way through a contract, but this is a contract free phone, if you want one, why not buy one and use it on your existing contract? OK you’ll need a microSIM but your network provider should send you one on demand, then flog your old phone on fleabay …

Nexus 4 for self, old phone to wife/girlfriend/kids/ebay is indeed the only sensible option. It’s been a tough year. Let’s all treat ourselves.
