STATS: Android dominates EU with 67% smartphone share

The latest data from analyst Kantar Worldpanel shows how Android’s continuing to establish itself as the biggest force in mobile by a million miles, with Google-powered phones accounting for an astonishing 67.1% of smartphone sales — as the share taken by iOS devices shrank to 14.6% of the market.

The stats cover the 12 week period ending August 5th 2012, and also cover such things as average screen sizes, with Kantar saying some 29% of Android phones sold during the period came with displays larger than 4.5 inches.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Android’s share of the smartphone market was up 29.1% year on year. This data comes from Kantar Worldpanel, with some additional figures from Mobile Today.
