LG Optimus One Android 2.3.3 update starts in Europe

It looks like LG’s nice little Android phone is about to get an official update to Android 2.3, with LG’s official Chilean Optimus One support page (!) telling its users that the update has started to launch on this side of the world.

The company has decided to push out the upgrade first in Romania, then Russia, and if it all goes according to plan the 2.3 update will arrive on Optimus Ones around the world.

lg optimus one 23 update

Do we by any chance have any Russian or Romanian Optimus One users? Probably not. But you never know.

hmm… I’ve had some bad experiences and am now, generally, not too keen on having the latest version of software, new software new bugs!

better have the previous version which works fine, who uses 100% of the features available anyways?

LG have also released the Gingerbread 2.3 kernel source on their website, they would not do this if the 2.3 update was not already out.

Sadly LG UK customer services are not very good at keeping up to date with software updates

This is gonna make a few of you in th UK not very happy …

Sent an Email to LG ( UK ) On 26th July 2011 –

    This is the reply …

    Dear Customer

If this update becomes available it wont be until september time.
It is not 100% confirmed yet but keep checking the LG website for further information.

I hope this has been of some assistance to you.
Please do not hesitate in contacting us again should you require any further advice.

So their does seem to be a change of plan from LG regarding the Optimus One update from the previous Email ( see above ) i got from LG back In may.

Note: All the other pervious “So Say” release dates “Have Not” been given out by LG !!!.

    —————————————————————————

So it would seem that the July thing ( and all the other pervious so say release dates )
are a big load of BS regarding the “Official” UK release of the 2.3 Gingerbread Update for the LG Optimus One.

Updating with “Unofficial” updates will invalidate your warranty/guarantee for your Phone .

    Your Choice !!!

Got this email from LG about the “Official” UK Optimus One 2.3 update.

    —————————————————————————————–
    Thank you for your email.

The Android 2.3 update for LG UK handsets is not available at this moment. However, we are expecting it to be available for September. It is advised that you follow the instructions below to obtain the software that will be used to perform the update when it is available.

    1) Go to uk.lgworld.com and select ‘Manuals and Software’. In the new window select the grey ‘Download’ button, then the smaller grey ‘Download’ button. Run the .exe file, then select ‘Run’ again.

    2) This will install the Lg Mobile support Tool on your PC. Open this program by selecting ‘LGMobile update’ from your Start menu.

    3) Once you have opened the program, open the ‘Customer Support’ tab and select ‘Applications, Manuals and USB Driver download’.

    4) In the new window, enter your IMEI in the field provided and then click the magnifying glass. Ensure you do not enter the dashes or spaces.

    5) Three results will appear at the bottom of that window, Download the USB Driver.

    6) These files will be found in your C: Drive in a folder named after the model of your handset. Double click the ‘LGUnitedMobileDriver’ to install the driver.

    7) Once the driver is installed, go back to the Mobile support tool (by opening LG Mobile Update again) and connect your phone to your PC, please ensure mass storage is disabled.

    8) The mobile support tool should then recognise the phone and allow you to upgrade.

I hope this has been of some assistance to you please do not hesitate in contacting us again should you require any further advice.
