The popular and very impressive Moto G has single-handedly turned things around for Motorola in the UK, with stats from sales analyst Kantar Worldpanel suggesting the G-Unit grew Motorola’s smartphone market share from an embarrassing laughing-stock level of 0.6% six months ago to an impressive 6% right now.
Kantar says the G’s budget win helped Android maintain its hold as the most popular smartphone OS in Europe, where devices powered by Google’s code ran on 68.9% of devices sold in the 12 weeks to the end of February 2014.
Kantar says the Moto G’s win “highlights the speed at which a quality budget phone can disrupt a market.” Definitely get one, if only to know you have something decent to use in an emergency.
