New Nexus 7 UK launch set for September 13, prices from £199

The PC World/Currys/Dixons electrical chain has stuck some prices and dates on the new Nexus 7, suggesting the upgraded tablet won’t arrive in the UK until the middle of SEPTEMBER. The chain’s now taking online pre-orders for the 16GB and 32GB models, though, with the smaller unit priced at £199 and the 32GB Android 4.3 tablet costing £239. There’s no sign of the mobile-ready hardware, just the Wi-Fi pair.

Here’s the screengrab of proof. They’ve made a bit of a mistake on the “Android 4.2″ wording in the description…

…but you’d think a chain of this size ought to be spot on about the launch dates and prices. An arrival date of September 13 is a big old disappointment for those hoping to pick one up. Check the pre-order options out over at Currys.

Hopefully this just means that Google will sell them direct first before letting the third parties have a crack at it. Which would be both good and bad.

Good – You can get it a few weeks

Bad – It’s Google selling you a device so you’ll get it in September.

That is a good point. I look forward to seeing them go out of stock within seconds :(

    That is absolutely BONKERS!

I’m gonna write a letter to someone, probably the Daily Mail. They’ll sort it out. How dare they treat us BRITISH like this? Racists. We should get it the same time as everyone else. I am FURIOUS! Grrrr! Bloody Cameron and Clegg. I’ve not been this disappointed since the BBC got rid of Neil Tennant off Dr Who.

My personal pet theory is Google are trying to punish us over the War of Independence.

Until they actually invent Google Time Travel and go back and kick our asses they will use these delaying tactics to irk the average Google tech nerd/enthusiast.

On a serious note, I think this is a clear indication that Google don’t want a repeat of the Nexus 4 shambles. Release it in the US and let the surge drop and then rinse and repeat in all other territories. They really don’t want to have a repeat of the bad press they got last year so it’s understandable.

I picked mine up this past Saturday at a local Best Buy, Google wasn’t shippng at the time I bought minr, and they do tend to ship slow. I happen to agree with the above posts, it should have been available to all, racist, well no. And if not all over, at least in more then one market.

Good luck to all across the pond, and you will not be disappointed.
