UK phone retailer Clove has gone public with sad news from HTC, claiming that the exciting new HTC One Android phone won’t launch until March 29th. The quad-core device was originally due to arrive here on March 15th. Here’s what Clove said of the delay:
The original launch date was due to be the 15th March. We have today been advised officially by HTC that the UK launch date has been put back to the 29th March.
We apologise for this delay, but you will appreciate that this is out of our control.
We’re unsure if this delay refers only to unlocked models distributed via the SIM-free retailers, or if it covers all of the major networks as well. If it’s the latter it’ll put a big dent in HTC’s 2013 ambitions, as getting it out well before Samsung’s Galaxy S4 arrives surely had to be the #1 priority.
Carphone Warehouse now also says March 29th, which will effect contract buyers and upgraders, while Three UK says…
…30th of APRIL on its HTC One pre-order page. Mind you, we don’t know what that said yesterday.
And Vodafone still claims it’ll start sending them out as planned on the 15th…
…while even the mighty Amazon hasn’t been able to pull any strings and now says March 29th as well.
