Asus PadFone 2 listed for UK release, from £599

Despite having just announced an updated third-gen PadFone at Mobile World Congress, Asus is only just about ready to launch the PadFone 2 in the UK — with a price tag of £599 attached to the phone/tablet docking hybrid. It launches with ICS onboard, but an update to Jelly Bean is apparently out there ready for installation once it arrives.

The Asus PadFone 2 features a mobile running Qualcomm’s excellent S4 Pro chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, alongside 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage space. Slot this into the docking port around the back of the supplied tablet chassis and it then powers a 10.1″ Android tablet. It is mad and sci-fi and very unusual…

…and you can have it soon. Ebuyer is taking pre-orders for it right now, with initial stock expected to start shipping this time next week. There’s also a listing for the PadFone 2 up at Carphone Warehouse, but no price over there as yet.
