Sony giving away ridiculously expensive headphones with Xperia Z pre-orders

Sony would appear to have given the go-ahead for the networks to start accepting pre-orders for the hot looking new Xperia Z ahead of its February 28th launch day, with initial buyers getting a fantastic freebie thrown in — a pair of Sony MDR-1R Prestige headphones, valued at a whopping great £299.

Those who order the purple Xperia T through O2 or the standard old black and exciting new white units through Three qualify for the giveaway, although O2 says it has limited quantities and Three says only the first 1,000 pre-orders will get the free headphones.

Sony’s promotional page says the freebie will also be carried by Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U, so there’s plenty of choice when putting together your SIM deal. Get in there sharpish if you want something to eBay to offset the monthly cost. Or just need some headphones.

Damn you Cutlack, wish you hadn’t told me. Now I have a purple phone pre-ordered. How am I supposed to keep my dignity?

Oh dear. I don’t think that’s a removable cover either. That’s a firm lifestyle choice you’ve made for the next 24 months.

That £300 price is the suggested retail price, you can grab those headphones from Amazon for around £200. And..just so people are aware, the headphones shown aren’t the ones we saw at CES with the NFC and BT.
