Tech analyst Kantar Worldpanel has issued some new numbers covering the global smartphone scene. As well as reiterating Android’s massive lead in the UK and other key countries, it also gave us a more detailed breakdown of Samsung’s contribution to Android’s success, claiming Samsung phones accounted for a stonking 35% of UK smartphone sales at the end of 2012.
Apple’s just behind it on 32%. Nokia’s doing well, too, with sales up 50% on the same period of last year, although it still only has a modest 6.2% of the smartphone market here. There’s even some good news for RIM, with its cheap BlackBerry 9320 apparently the most “gifted” phone in December, followed by the… Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. Blimey.
The stats cover the 12-week period up to the end of December 2012. Read more over at Kantar where some men go into additional detail for your delight.
