Acer Iconia B1 hits the supermarkets, Jelly Bean tablet for £99

The latest 7″ budget tablet from Acer has gone on sale in the UK, with its small tablet now available in ASDA, Sainsburys and probably other places for £99. For that you get a surprisingly decent-sounding dual-core MediaTek A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a 7″ display running at 1024 x 600 resolution, 8GB of storage, SD card slot and “HD” front-facing camera.

Only 512MB of RAM will make it a little clunky in places, but once something’s up and running it ought to be a decent enough performer. An unspecified version of “Jelly Bean” is the Iconia B1′s launch OS.

There’s only a 2710 mAh battery inside the B1, mind, so you’d better be planning on using it mostly inside or utilising a very, very long extension lead if heading out. Stuff one in your trolley over at ASDA or Sainsburys.
