Samsung’s just revealed an updated version of its Xcover phone for outdoors people, with the Galaxy Xcover 2 offering a similarly robust experience to last year’s water resistant model. The Xcover 2 features a 4″ display running at 480 x 800 resolution, with a 1GHz dual-core processor powering Android 4.1.
The ruggedness is taken care of via IP67 certification, meaning it can survive a 30 minute dunk in up to one metre of water, so ought to emerge unscathed from most mundane household toilet/sink mishaps. Here it is:
There’s a 5megapixel camera with flash inside the Xcover 2, a VGA front-facing chat cam, physical camera shutter button, 4GB of onboard storage space and 1GB of RAM. The battery’s a 1,700mAh unit.
It is not enormously exciting but there you go. The fact that Samsung’s announcing this now makes us think it has something mega-exciting lined up for next month’s Mobile World Congress, as in, the Galaxy S IV.
