Archos continues to expand its range of Android tablets in new directions, today revealing a mid-sized 8″ option it calls the Archos 80 Cobalt. This one is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, which sits alongside 1GB of RAM. Android 4.0 is the launch OS, with the display running at the 4:3 aspect ratio of 1024×768.
The Archos 80 Cobalt features 8GB of onboard storage space, plus there’s an SD card support for whacking on loads more. It also includes two relatively weak cameras, running at 2MP and 0.3MP.
It’s a cheap one, by the look of it. Despite being rather more technically impressive than the Archos Xenon and Archos Carbon, things move fast in Android tablet world. It had better be cheap or it won’t stand a chance.
