Finally, after seeing those who bought their new Galaxy S III phones through the networks get the Jelly Bean update ahead of them, Samsung’s OS upgrade is now live for owners with unbranded models purchased outside of a network.
Usually the first in line to receive any such upgrades, the poor old hardcore users who paid proper big money to buy their phones outright have been left until last by Samsung…
…but at least everyone’s now using Android 4.1 on their S IIIs in the UK, or, seeing as it’s a huge 284MB file, everyone’s at least in the process of watching it download.

/ October 24, 2012Bloody server error messages trying to download it on mine. At least it says it’s there. What’s the Android equivalent of F5?

/ October 24, 2012T-Mobile UK haven’t released a 4.1 firmware – so that’s not everyone just yet!

/ October 24, 2012Apparently tmobile sells unbranded siii’s. Mine (tmobile) just got fresh jelly on board. If OTA says ‘need to wait’ – use Kies.
Matey
/ October 24, 2012Unfortunately that’s not across the board – currently holding a T-Mobile locked S3 and know of 4 other aquaintances in the same boat.
Nice to know not everybody is stuck the same way, though :-)

/ October 24, 2012Yeah, T-Mobile usually sell their phones unbranded. I have an unbranded S3 via Phones4U with an Orange contract. I’m updating via Kies at the moment.

/ October 24, 2012I have to agree. Still no JB update for me on Orange (or EE as its now called), as usual they’re slow again!!!
