Sony has updated us on its software update plans for its current models, confirming that some of this year’s new Android powered Xperia phones will see an update to Android 4.1. First to see the Android 4.1 update will be the Xperia T, Xperia V and Xperia TX, which should see the 4.1 “Jelly Bean” upgrade arrive from “mid Q1″ of 2013.
Furthermore, the company’s Xperia S, Xperia Acro S, Xperia Ion, Xperia P, Xperia Go and Xperia J will also get a Jelly Bean update at some point later in 2013.
The rest of the older Sony/Ericsson models from 2011 and earlier, will be staying on 4.0, including the rather powerful Xperia Arc S, which you’d think could handle it well enough. Read more over on Sony’s Mobile blog.

/ October 19, 2012Gary, your story says “should see the 4.1 “Jelly Bean” upgrade arrive from Q3 of this year.”
but the Sony blog says: “these smartphones will begin to receive the upgrade to Jelly Bean from mid-Q1 2013.”
Just a typo I’m sure, especially since Q3 ended three weeks ago :)
