Let’s be honest, we weren’t expecting much from Rovio’s new Angry Birds spin-off Bad Piggies, as we’re not hugely keen on its trademark brand of simplistic trial and error physics gaming. But… it’s pretty good!
The idea is you start each map with a simplistic toolkit, with which you build a contraption capable of negotiating the scenery and making it to the goal. This involves putting on little wheels, engines, fizzy bottles and other devices for propulsion, hoping it doesn’t all hit a lump and fall apart.
It does start to feel like a bit of a one trick pony after a while, but as the levels get tougher and your contraptions larger, it still manages to remain quite a good laugh. And the huge, unlockable sandbox levels, where you have to build a giant machine to cope, are even better.
There are two versions on the Play Store, both free and ad-supported – Bad Piggies and Bad Piggies HD for tablets.
SUMMARY:
We wanted to hate it. We didn’t. It’s OK. 7/10.
