Satellite broadcaster Sky has another toy for Android users to play with, thanks to its Sky Sports TV app. The new app lets subscribers watch all seven Sky Sports channels on their mobiles, also supporting whatever niche sports are screened on ESPN and the At The Races channel.
The app is available to everyone regardless of if they’re a Sky subscriber or not, with sports-mad fans paying a standalone £4.99 monthly subscription fee for access to the content via wi-fi of 3G.
Sadly, the app doesn’t yet support Android 4.1 devices, with Sky saying it’ll work on the HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note right now.
Sky Sports TV is on the Play Store here.

/ August 17, 2012So once again we have an app from Sky that works on the HTC Desire, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD, but not on the HTC Desire Z.
I wonder what Sky have against physical keyboards?

/ August 17, 2012I think what we’re seeing here is a list of the phones used by Sky’s tech team.

/ August 17, 2012Any info on whether it will be available in Ireland?

/ August 18, 2012Just ignore. Thought is was because they weren’t available in Ireland. It’s just that they don’t support any of my devices…

/ August 21, 2012I got the app to install on my SGS2 phone after downgrading from CM10 to a stock ICS rom BUT once I rooted the phone the app will not login! So beware, rooted phone = No Sky TV even after paying the £4.99 monthly fee! Once I un-rooted it worked fine again :-
