Barclays launches full mobile banking app for Android

After messing about with some odd little money transfer tools and some boring football marketing nonsense, UK banking giant Barclays has finally pushed out a complete, fully featured mobile banking app. The Barclays Mobile Banking Android app lets users check balances and recent transactions, send money to people already in your online banking payee list and shuffle your pennies about between your own accounts to help fend off the bailiffs for another month.

Android 2.3 or higher is required to run it, plus Barclays says its mobile banking app won’t work for those using rooted Android phones, no doubt due to possible security concerns.

You probably already knew about this one. Catching up on the “news” today after a bit of a technical nightmare.

Barclays technical hitches aside, it’s good to see them doing innovative stuff like this, rather than what those useless twats at First Direct are upto. They have taken the head in the sand and hope Android goes away stance. What’s more likely, is First Direct going away, as HSBC are too ashamed to put their name to them.

I can see from your screenshots that you are loaded. Can you lend me a monkey?

Nice to have the site updates again! Glad your inter-webs is fixed!

If only they were my screenshots. Having £42.35 in a savings account is but a distant dream.

Not really, it’s common sense. Your phone can’t safely do encryption or decryption, which means banking and DRM is all offlimits.

        Irrelevant, your PC is “rooted”

On most rooted roms like Cyanogen you can diable root access yet it still detects that you have a custom rom and wont allow you to use it.

Just need to persuade Santander to pull their fingers out too now… AFAIK their app is resolutely available for Spain only, where no-one can afford a phone to run it on.
