Samsung has issued a brief statement on the timing of the arrival of its Android 4.0 update for the Galaxy S II for UK Android users, saying the update will start to appear “from week commencing 19th March.” As ever, the timing of the update process will be heavily dependent on where you bought your phone and if it’s tied into a network or not.
Here’s the quote from Samsung’s Android UK team, acquired by Pocket-Lint:
“Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on Galaxy S II will be available from week commencing 19th March, however the availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process”
Which makes this an extremely desirable phone once more:
So if you bought your Galaxy S II through Orange, don’t go getting excited. Maybe start getting excited in September, perhaps?
