There’s some very, very big news for owners and lovers of the original Asus Eee Transformer tablet today, as Asus has just announced the completion and initial availability of the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the fantastic tablet.
The significant “downside” for us at the moment is that the 4.0 update is being released first for users in Taiwan, with Asus saying it’ll hit other regions “soon after.” Here’s the thing from Asus:
Many of our Eee Pad Transformer TF101 users have waited patiently for the promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update and we are delighted to announce that the first wave of FOTA updates for TF101 firmware v.184.108.40.206 started today in Taiwan. The update will FOTA in other regions soon after.
Although we will announce several new innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, we take great pride in delivering on-going enhancements and support for products that are well into their life cycle.
But it’s so near you can smell the warm plastic, basically.
Read the full thing about it over on the Asus Facebook page if you are excited by this development and need to see the original source.
