Asus Transformer TF101 Android 4.0 update OUT NOW! HERE!

The long-awaited “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the original EeePad Transformer is now available in the UK, with Asus copying across the necessary files it made available in Taiwan yesterday . Some users in the US received it earlier today, some are still waiting.

We’re now seeing multiple reports from users in the UK and Ireland saying the update notification is now appearing on tablets and the download is underway, so it’s out there and working its way through the ether to everyone’s Transformers. It’ll never be the same again.

Let us know how you get on with it if you’re a member of the Asus club. A discounted TF101 with Android 4.0 onboard has to be one of 2012′s possible budget Android highlights. If the price of the thing ever goes down.

  1. Downloading now, thanks

  2. I checked ebay and even £250 doesn’t get you a second hand one with keyboard dock. Looking at least £300.

Why should it? It’s the only tablet (aside from the ipad) that’s managed to maintain it’s RRP for over a year, simply because it’s the best tablet out there bar none (not even the ipad2 comes close).

Todays update made it even better. 50% speed improvements when it was already pretty nifty. Thanks very much.

I update this morning and after a few hours of playing about with ICS, no problems to report?. Some cool new features as well. A very happy bunny

  6. It won’t install on mine. It downloads OK, reboots OK, goes part way through installing, and stops with that yellow exclamation mark in a triangle superimposed on the droid. If I don’t manually switch it off, it automatically reboots, and a message then tells me that the update failed. Not impressed.

Installed fine on mine, I’m guessing you don’t have enough room on it to finish. Try freeing some space.

Rooted device…. Did you really think it would install on a non standard unit?

      • Unrooted as it happens. And no custom recovery installed, either. I managed to install it in the end by running the previous update installation, then ICS. I can’t say I like ICS that much.

I updated last night and everything went just smooth. I think one of the biggest improvements is the possibility to turn of the wake up function of the mobile dock. This saves a lot of batttery. Allso the keybord of the dockin station works better. No more delays between typing and on screen information. So, at first sight I’m verry happy.

    Thx,

Getting very inpatient as my Ainol NOVO7 Elf came pre installed ith ICS 4.0.3, at a cost of around 75 EURO by the way.

……. compared to what i payed for the tf101 hmmm …….

  11. I really like the new update, but there is one thing bugging me.. On the old camera, I had effects such as Black&White, Negative, Sepia.. but now they’re gone.
I loved the B&W effect on my camera, but now on the new version I have to go into programs and edit to get that. The hell. Why did they remove those features from the very beginning?
