Samsung Galaxy S II Plus pictured – same thing, Android 4.0 buttons

This, according to a tweet from notorious mobile industry troublemaker Eldar Murtazin, is the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus. As the name suggests, it’s a pretty small update of the popular Galaxy S II, with the most obvious change being the addition of capacitive buttons which copy the on-screen system of the Galaxy Nexus and its Android 4.0 system.

With yesterday’s news that we won’t be seeing the Galaxy S III at this month’s Mobile World Congress event, it looks like Samsung is depending on its fans being kept happy by marginally more capable Galaxy S II update with Android 4.0 onboard.

It works for us. We’d have one. As a stopgap between now and whenever the Galaxy S III actually arrives. You can never have too many telephones.

Where’s the menu button??? Also, I can’t believe google dropped the search button in ICS, two years ago i thought it would have been the only button left on today’s phones…

For starters, this is a fake, as you quite rightly pointed out, there is no menu button, you can have new software buttons, or the old hardware buttons, as the menu button wouldnt just magically appear like it does on the nexus.

Also the search button has been removed and replaced by the google search bar, that on the galaxy nexus cannot be removed unless you replace the launcher with a different launcher, which has made room for the fancy new multitasking button.

yes, i know, but i use an ICS rom on my sensation (virtuous inquisition) and the search button is usable everywhere (it’s not truly AOSP, but a de-sensified build of that leaked HTC ICS ROM)… I really use it a lot, especially those apps which allow searching only on the front page…

Like I said, it’s not truly stock android, it’s based of that leaked HTC sensation ICS ROM which was then stripped of all things Sense. The search button functionality was probably restored by the devs, not sure… Check it out, it’s still beta, but still the finest ICS ROM out there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408351

In all of the S2 ICS leaks the top bar icons have been changed from the default cyan to green, ala http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/8326/i9100xxlp21.png

This looks like a photoshop but it doesn’t mean the device isn’t coming. Seems plausible considering they released a GS Plus.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens at MWC

I don’t really get this. What’s the point of releasing Samsung GS2+ when Galaxy S3 is going to be out in the next few months anyway and everyone’s already waiting for that. No one’s gonna give a crap about S2+. It’ll be obsolete when GS3 is released!

A bit of a spoiler tactic to stop everyone getting too excited about HTC’s rumoured Android 4.0 quad-core line up, I’d say.
