The exciting new quad-core Android tablet from Asus has gone on sale across the UK today. That’s very exciting in itself. Even more thrilling is the fact that there’s an update to Android 4.0 available for the machine as promised, meaning the first task for new buyers to perform after boot will be to download and install the “Ice Cream Sandwich” update.
That will cause an EXCITEMENT OVERLOAD for many.
Asus says most online and physical retailers should have their Transformer Prime stock ready to go today, although users who ordered through Amazon UK are receiving emails today saying the retailer is still awaiting its stock from Asus. Whoops.
Other marginally bad news is everyone’s still charging the full £499 for it, but you do get the QWERTY dock included and if ever an Android tablet was worth a premium price, this has to be the one. Do let us know if you’ve gone on a post-Christmas buying spree and actually bought one.

/ January 12, 2012I was thinking about it but why would you when the 1920×1080 version is already on the way……

/ January 12, 2012I was quite annoyed when Asus announced the new model as I pre-ordered mine from PC World and received it about a week ago.
And the Ice Cream Sandwich update is pretty awesome :)

/ January 12, 2012Got mine delivered yesterday from ebuyer. Hurrah for pre-ordering!
Seems I got lucky and have one where the WiFi still works throughout my house. ICS is pretty slick, although it seems to have lost that nice way Honeycomb let you add things to your desktops.

/ January 12, 2012Seems a bit silly making an announcement like this “…today…” on a page without a date displayed!
Still, the hunt is now on for a supplier……..
