*LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO SELF ALARM*
Dixons has just taken the very nice HTC Flyer down to a literally bonkers price of £199, which is quite an amazing discount on the usual RRP of the fancy little tablet with the sensitive stylus. This non-3G model will arrive with Android 2.3 onboard, though, but the Android 3.2 update for the 3G model ought to be ready for the wi-fi model soon enough.
And the 3G model is down to £249 right now as well.
Amazing. Father Christmas has gone mad. He’s clearing out his warehouse like nobody’s business. See the above price with your own eyes over at Dixons.

/ December 23, 2011It’s a shame this will probably never see ICS. I really fancy one of these.
What’s the flash performance like? Anyone?

/ December 25, 2011The last htc device I ran using a snapdragon soc was the htc desire HD which i had for 6 months from october 2010 to around april this year. Flash performance was decent. Given this cpu runs at 1.5ghz vs the 1ghz on the desire, I can say with confidence that the flash performance should be good if not great

I’d also like the price of the Sony S to come down a bit more too, i wish more companies would put IR into tablets. :(

/ December 25, 2011i love some aspects of htc sense which to me are a cut above what samsung etc offer…my usual gripe is average screen quality and a lack of ram and storage… still i have missed the text reflow as seen only on the htc stock browser. yes I do like dolphin but i have to use the zoom onscreen button to get the text to reflow whereas the htc browser always does it automatically. Couple that with the ability to use “scenes” to have different home screen skins and configurations and you get probably the nicest software experience on android (ignoring ice cream sandwich ofcourse).
would I buy a kindle fire over an HTC flyer? No, I dont think so…couple that with the HTC Scribe stylus and this makes one amazing, if slightly underpowered tablet. Merry christmas everyone!!!!

/ January 20, 2012“still i have missed the text reflow as seen only on the htc stock browser.” actually there is a hidden option in the settings for that in the SII browser settings, I was thinking the same thing!

/ December 28, 2011I’ve ordered mine, but it’s still showing ‘expected’ stock take of the item will be the 26th Dec. Well it’s now the 28th Dec, called them up to find out if stock had been delivered… was told it hadn’t been and then was told they didn’t have any information on their computer as to when it was arriving (great help I know). Don’t know if I should cancel my order and try get it from elsewhere, or just hang in there and put my faith into Dixons.
Any suggestions? The price is fantastic, but with the limited number of Flyers out there at the minute, I don’t want to miss out altogether :

/ December 29, 2011I wouldn’t put my faith in Dixons. I’ve been waiting for days and just received an email saying they made a stock error and cancelled my order. I’m absolutely livid because I cant seem to find it anywhere for that price anymore.
