Rockstar Games has just announced an official launch date for that shock mobile version of Grand Theft Auto III, claiming the Android and iOS release is now set to happen on December 15th, for a surprisingly affordable $4.99 or rough equivalent.
The publisher also updated its list of supported devices, adding a few more tablets to the previously reported list of compatible hardware. Here’s the revised list, which isn’t particularly good news for EU Android phone owners…
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
And GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY! Here are a couple of official screens from the Android version of GTA III.
Very exciting indeed. If that on-screen control system is actually bearable this could be absolutely huge. In fact, it’ll be absolutely huge anyway. It’s GTA III. They don’t get bigger.

/ December 7, 2011No Xperia Play? Touchscreen controls are always so bad that I’m not even going to bother trying to play this on my Xoom.
