Here’s some good news for fans of Huawei’s excellent, niche Android phone – the company says an official update to Android 2.3 is finally about to arrive. Huawei said: “We can confirm that the IDEOS X5 upgrade to Android 2.3 will be available by the end of November“. So that’s what we’re saying as well.
The company has already released an Android 2.3 update for the even rarer U8800+ model, but that won’t work on the older U8800, which is also sold under the name “Titan.”
So there you go. And if ever there was a reason to buy a Huawei phone, that photograph is it.

/ November 8, 2011Yeah the U8800+ update doesn’t work on the regular old U8800… I know this from experience :’(

/ November 8, 2011Yes, the reason I could casually throw that fact in there is from following your trials on Twitter. I think. If you’re the same Simon.

/ November 26, 2011Hi Raja Sims,
Please DON’T do that as you can have your device run FASTER n have more Battery Live if you change its custom ROM to Oxygen 2.3.1 which is in congruent with android 2.3.7 ! …. I’ve changed it with the Froyo Custom ROM provided by Huawei Ideos X5 and its up n above HTC Desire HD with ANTUTU Benchmark …… OWAO… u8800 just ROCKS … Wish you Good Luck, mate ! Bye.
