Mobile analyst Research2Guidance has published a rather interesting report on the earning potential of paid-for Android apps, pointing out that weather-based apps are by far the biggest earners for their developers.
The average paid Android weather app has earned its maker a nearly life-changing $21,000, while multimedia and comic book apps take… virtually nothing. Here’s the graph, showing R2G’s estimated total paid app earnings by category:
And despite the popularity of game downloads, the money they make for their developers is described as “mediocre” in comparison with the more profitable niches. So stop having fun and start making a weather app instead.
