An unnamed prototype of Sony’s forthcoming Android-based Walkman update was shown off at the recent IFA tech show – now it’s just been made official. It’s now known as the Sony Walkman Z Series, the very latest in the Walkman line of media players, powered by Android.
And look, proper Android buttons on it as well. What an incredible endorsement for Android from Sony, eh?
Android 2.3 is the OS, powering a 4.3″ screen, with the ubiquitous Tegra 2 chipset inside doing the manual labour. The Walkman Z has been announced for Japan just now, hitting the market there in December. More photos of this very desirable object are available over on the Japanese site.
