The BBC’s money-making commercial wing has launched a new Doctor Who game on Android, with Doctor Who – The Mazes of Time now available for download. It’s a 3D puzzle game that’s a free release, although if you want to play more than the initial collection of levels it comes with you’ll be asked to pay to unlock additional content.
Here’s what it looks like:
Amazing. At least Amy’s in it. The Android Market comments beneath the listing are pretty scathing, plus it’s not showing as available for download on any of the Android devices we’ve use thus far. So maybe don’t bother. Sorry for wasting your time.
UPDATE #2:
There’s an alternate listing for UK users , which comes with a 50p charge and then asks for 50p for subsequent level packs. Thanks to Adrian for the tip.

/ August 16, 2011Why is this by BBC Worldwide ltd, the BBC are not supposed to make money in the UK also the developer in the market is not the same as the offical BBC iplayer app for android?

/ August 17, 2011The ‘UK-only’ 50p version appears to have vanished now. I was holding off as it was unclear exactly what the differences between the two versions were (how much were/are the level packs for the ‘free’ version?)
I’ll give it a go now. A massive shame it doesn’t support my Xoom – I’m pretty sure the IOS version supports tablets.
