The Pierre Cardin PC-7006 Tablet PC is powered by Android 2.2, so immediately fails one of the main criteria of fashion. It is running last season’s version of the OS. How very unfashionable. At least the touch screen is capacitive and displays at 800×480 resolution, while it all runs on a 1GHz Cortex A8 – meaning Flash support is in.
There’s a front-facing camera for video chatting, plus the spec sheet says it supports video playback in MOV, WMV and the popular AVI formats. The maker also claims it has full Android Market access.
It’s £275 and can be bought direct from the maker. And you get a nice leather case. Here are the tech specs of the thing, in case you need a tablet with designer credentials:

/ February 4, 2012NOW the Pierre Cardin Tablet is £150 and I think that is more than reasonable for an android 2.3 tablet. It has a 4GB internal memory but it can expand upto 16GB giving it 20GB in total. When you think that a lot of tablets are running around with 16GB (without expansion) and charging £350+ also the ‘average’ tablet is £250 and above with similar specs. As I said, this is NOW.
With that said, I completely agree that the people behind the Pierre Cardin tablet didn’t get it right at all when they launched. For Pierre Cardin as a respected brand to put their name on such ‘basic’ technology is incredible. Pierre Cardin didn’t do their research properly on ALL counts. Did no-one at Pierre Cardin not realise how basic the spec was? Did they not know that techies would review it and it would affect the selling capacity if negative? The people who put the idea to Pierre Cardin really mugged them off and they wanted to capitalise and mug off the people that had ‘more money than sense’.
This tablet is a branded version and identical to the hundreds that you can get off dealextreme.com with exactly the same specs. That they were and still are selling it on their website, as a package deal with a stylus, car charger, hdmi cable and 8GB sd card, for £440 is amazing to me.
