According to a report in the Telegraph, The Lovers’ Guide is set to launch on smartphones later this month. It’ll be a paid app, unsurprisingly, with users asked to buy “71 explicit clips costing £1 each” upon the app’s launch.
Younger readers may not be aware of the cultural significance of The Lovers’ Guide – it was the first mainstream retail product in the UK to feature actual, proper, close-up shots of SEX THINGS happening. It was porn, but with a voiceover and a doctor’s name on the box:
It’ll be interesting to see if the “educational” angle of the product can keep it up on the Android Market, or whether Google will pull the plug. It’ll certainly cause trouble in many regions where the Android Market is available yet the content is ruder than national laws allow.
