The BBC has started a national survey of the UK’s mobile coverage, designed to accurately map out the availability of 2G and 3G networks on an independent, “street level” basis. If you’d like to help Android app UK 3G Survey is up in the Android Market, which lets you perform tests and generates an average connectivity graph.
The BBC says data will be “anonymised” and the app silently collects its data in the background. And, if you’re interested, you can do a manual search to see what you’re connected to. Like this:
I am on 2G. I am always on 2G, such are the perils of rural living. You’ll need Android 2.1 in order to make it work and take part. Read all about it over on the BBC.

/ July 19, 2011But at least the views on the Isle of Mull are fantastic
If you’ve got broadband however you might want to invest in the Suresignal box and switch to Vodafone
Otherwise you might want to start some sort of facebook campaign and get your MSP and MP involved

/ July 19, 20112G’s fine for me. I’m on wi-fi all the time anyway and when I go out it’s actually a relief to get away from the bloody internet.
