This is quite something. Precocious Mouse #1 is an album that’s been “tablet optimised” for 7″ Android devices, coming with its own visual accompaniment that explains what you’re listening to and fills you in with facts about the artist. Here’s a little chunk from the description:
The album takes the format of a short book with generative art and photography accompanying each audio track, and text supplied by invited artists, musicians, and composers.
It also works on mobiles, but some of the text is a little hard to read on the smaller screen. It looks pretty bonkers:
It’s proper “arthouse” stuff. You’ll need to have Adobe Air installed to run it. And preferably a taste for avant garde electronic music, as it’s not exactly accessible pop. It sounds like… clicks and broken machinery. Is that really what the kids are into these days?
A person we assume is the developer talks about it in a little more detail and supplies extra images here.

/ July 11, 2011Thanks for reviewing the app, as for the content issue it’s something I am looking at for a new update which should be happening sometime this week. Thanks for the feedback!
