7Digital app updated, now with Android lock-screen player controls

The latest Android release of the 7Digital music player has one very nice little feature built into it – an integrated player control that works from the Android lock screen. We were rather sceptical about how this may work on the various customised lock screens out there, so installed the thing to have a look.

You’ll need to sign in with a 7Digital account even to play music already on your SD card, but when you do…

…that’s what it looks like on the Xperia Arc lock screen (left) and the HTC Desire lock screen (right). It basically opens the app’s interface when you press standby. Weird idea, and a bit messy on the Sony Ericsson phone, but works.

Get the updated 7Digital app on the Android Market, if there’s a need for a lock screen music controller in your life.

    Hi Gary,

Quick question. Do you have the no lock application installed on both devices? Or to put it another way, do both devices have lock screens?

    Regards,
    Julius.

Both have lock screens, yes. No unlock software onboard. The Arc is new and pretty much untouched, running the 2.3.3 version of the OS.
