It looks like LG’s nice little Android phone is about to get an official update to Android 2.3, with LG’s official Chilean Optimus One support page (!) telling its users that the update has started to launch on this side of the world.
The company has decided to push out the upgrade first in Romania, then Russia, and if it all goes according to plan the 2.3 update will arrive on Optimus Ones around the world.
Do we by any chance have any Russian or Romanian Optimus One users? Probably not. But you never know.
HTC’s 4.3″ dual-core Android model, powered by Qualcomm’s all-new S4 processor. It’s smaller than the enormous One X, but is it as nice as its bigger brother? (SPOILER: Yes it is).
HTC is very much B-A-C-K at the top of the Android world with this, its quad-core flagship for 2012. Great camera, huge 4.7″ display and Android 4.0 running beautifully well.
Sony returns with an all-new mobile design for 2012, pairing a dual-core processor with a 720p display. It’s a lovely phone, but is it enough to end our Samsung and HTC obsession?
LG’s updated Prada phone comes with an absolutely crazy black & white theme, but is it just for fashionable suit wearers who want to make themselves look a bit more interesting?

Got this email from LG about the “Official” UK Optimus One 2.3 update.

Thank you for your email.
The Android 2.3 update for LG UK handsets is not available at this moment. However, we are expecting it to be available for September. It is advised that you follow the instructions below to obtain the software that will be used to perform the update when it is available.
1) Go to uk.lgworld.com and select ‘Manuals and Software’. In the new window select the grey ‘Download’ button, then the smaller grey ‘Download’ button. Run the .exe file, then select ‘Run’ again.
2) This will install the Lg Mobile support Tool on your PC. Open this program by selecting ‘LGMobile update’ from your Start menu.
3) Once you have opened the program, open the ‘Customer Support’ tab and select ‘Applications, Manuals and USB Driver download’.
4) In the new window, enter your IMEI in the field provided and then click the magnifying glass. Ensure you do not enter the dashes or spaces.
5) Three results will appear at the bottom of that window, Download the USB Driver.
6) These files will be found in your C: Drive in a folder named after the model of your handset. Double click the ‘LGUnitedMobileDriver’ to install the driver.
7) Once the driver is installed, go back to the Mobile support tool (by opening LG Mobile Update again) and connect your phone to your PC, please ensure mass storage is disabled.
8) The mobile support tool should then recognise the phone and allow you to upgrade.

/ September 2, 2011I did that a couple of times for my Orange locked P500,LG site says update available but when I connect phone I’m told phone already up to date,I suspect because it’s locked to Orange & Orange will control & supply the update when they get round to it,OH! it’s September already!
