Google+ Android app in the Android Market – but no use without a login

The entire internet has just started going BONKERS for a new social offering from Google, which has launched today under the brand Google+. There’s a Google+ app on the Android Market here, if you’d like to install it – and yes, the app does work on European phones.

BUT! You need an account to make it work, though, and accounts are obtained through invitation at the moment. So it won’t do anything. Don’t waste you time like we have just wasted ours…

…and we’re not sure if we can be bothered with yet another way to divulge dull facts about our daily lives, anyway.

  1. Looks like it could be quite important. It is also good to see that you have the +1 widget on your pages – I believe Google have said the popularity of sites/pages as indicated by +1 will have an effect on search engine rankings.

+1 is a waste of time. If people like it they will simply tweet it or facebook like it. As for Google + , a nice idea but will they pull the millions away from Facebook?

they could do yeah, android is a great vehicle for this, as if it mashes facebook and blackberry messenger into one service, then we have a real winner, alot of people have a google mail account so they already have alot of users (in theory) and if they bash it into android like blackberry do with BBM then people will use it and it could really grow, as they are making an iphone app aswell, it could really do a one up on facebook.

The infrastructure for a BBM competitor is already in place as well, i.e. Google Talk. They just need a way to make it easier to share your address e.g. like a PIN or unique set of characters etc.

I think the problem lies in dragging the users away from Facebook in which they’re already entrenched.
