Mobile app database AppBrain, which provides an immensely popular service for installing and managing Android apps via the web and its own app, also collects data regarding mobile phone use on its network.
And the latest figures tell us Samsung’s excellent new Galaxy S II powerhouse has got off to an absolutely incredible start, easily eclipsing quite a few popular Android models after a little more than a month on sale in only a few regions. Here’s the S II BLAST OFF visualised:
Even being lumbered with the pale pink line can’t slow it down. Read the full top 20 of most commonly used Android phones over on AppBrain’s data portal. It’s not meant to prove anything. Just a bit of fun.

/ June 16, 2011Got the Galaxy S2 recently. It’s an very good phone. Future proof. Never gonna upgrade a phone again.
Denzil
/ June 16, 2011Yeah it does seem future proof…only thing I might lack is NFC…I dont care about that for now though. I just need mine to keep up with android until September next year when I can upgrade again!

/ June 16, 2011NFC is coming in later models, around the end of Q2 IIRC.

/ June 16, 2011Yeah I heard…I have the version that doesnt

/ June 16, 2011I’m torn between the Sensation and GS2. I heard the processor will change to Tegra 2 as well when it gains NFC.

/ June 17, 2011I still can’t decide. They’re so totally different that if I plumped for one I’d constantly miss things about the other.

/ June 17, 2011I don’t see why anyone would prefer the Sensation to the SGS2…besides cosmetic reasons and hate for touchwiz (which I wasnt keen on…but I havent installed a different launcher because its actually usefeul and not just eye candy). Only reason I ever considered the Sensation was that the SGS2 looks like its trying to be an iPhone..but once I got over the looks…the SGS2 beats the Sensation on almost every account. So many youtube comparson videos with the SGS2 outperforming it. Battery, Performance, Call Quality, Storage, Connectivity…SGS2 is better in all those…Sensation has a better resolution…but SGS2 has SAMOLED PLUS…and plays almost any video you throw at it…including BluRay rips mkv…Still puzzled why the winner isnt clearer. If anyone is still torn… techradar have an article comparing the two…and they suggest the SGS2 as the overall winner too.

/ June 17, 2011Well, Sense is a lot nicer IMO although the new TouchWiz seems a lot better. The GS2 does look a bit boring and ‘iPhoney’ compared to the Sensation as well. Also, the build quality of the HTC seems a fair bit better than the GS2.
That said, the GS2 beats it in every other way, and with NFC coming it’ll probably be more future-proofed than the Sensation. I was slightly gutted when O2 put the price up from the steal that was £400 though which is what made me reconsider.

/ June 17, 2011Me too but NFC gonna take time to catch on in the UK so it’s not too much of an issue.
Peter
/ June 16, 2011That is fairly impresive given that it has not had a US release yet afaik. My app (which has UK/Ireland focus) has it between the Wildfire and the Desire S at 7.2%.

/ June 16, 2011Assuming a user base of around 100 million Android handsets, that means at least 2 million sold in the first month. Impressive in any case, and incredible when you consider the availability it had.
