STATS: Google Maps the most popular mobile app in the UK, with 6.4m users

According to some rather interesting data compiled by ComScore and GSMA, Google Maps is the UK’s most popular “connected” mobile application, registering over 6.4m users during April. That’s a significant lump of the adult population, no doubt helped by the app arriving pre-loaded on both Android and iPhone.

Here’s the full Connected Mobile Apps top 20, as featured in the Guardian today:

Good showing at #20 for TuneIn Radio. We’ve been using that a lot recently to enjoy live-streams of the many interesting drum & bass radio stations around the globe. There’s also a few good German disco stations.

All the numbers in general seem a bit low. 1% of the population with WhatsApp? And the other chat apps aren’t even in the ranking
