Android now has 44.9% of the UK smartphone market

Analyst Kantar Worldpanel has issued some new data on the European smartphone market, which says that Android was the OS on 44.9% of smartphones in the UK during the 12-week period ending May 15 2011.

The company says Android now holds the #1 OS spot in six European countries, and continues to make “large share gains” as we speak. It is also the most popular mobile OS in Australia and Japan. Things are going well, basically.

  1. Symbian down to 10%?!?!?!? WOW. . . I guess Elop got that platform burning really good. Think they would have been better off doing nothing. They might as well toss out a few Android phones for good measure while they wait for WP7. . . oh wait, that might help them.
