At the moment there’s a bit of a hole in the Sony Ericsson Android portfolio. It has awesome enormous phones (Arc), it has sweet tiny phones (X10 Mini Pro), it has gaming phones (PLAY) – but in the mid-sized 3.2″ sector it only has the rather awful Xperia X8. A very big chink in the armour, that.
The error is about to be put right by the as-yet unannounced Sony Ericsson “Urushi” also known as the ST18i, which is a slimline, stylish phone with a high-res (854×480) 3.2″ screen. It’s the final piece in Sony Ericsson’s Android world domination jigsaw puzzle:
The vast collection of photos over on GSM Arena show that it’s not as skinny or exciting as the amazing Xperia Arc, but with an 8megapixel camera, 720p video recording, the same internals as the Arc and Android 2.3.3 onboard, it’s still one heck of a decent mid-sized device.
The spy claims this will be launching in September.

/ June 10, 2011A pixel density of over 300ppi (see http://bit.ly/mHlxj8) – nice! At last an Android phone that can match the iPhone for legibility! I believe this is the first Android to catch up with the iPhone on that front, no? Oh, how I wish I could have a 4.3” device with the same pixel density!! Unfortunately, that would require a minimum of a 1024*768 resolution… (for anything approaching 300ppi, not to mention the iPhones 320 or so ppi)
Don’t know when that is going to happen!!
