Samsung: Sky Player Android app coming soon

One of Samsung UK’s bosses has claimed it will soon start including a Sky Player app on its devices, bringing streaming of Sky’s TV channels to mobile phones. It’s an interesting claim, as there’s currently no mobile access to Sky Player – just a basic service via Sky’s separate Sky Mobile 3G subscription option.

Here’s the quote, via Techradar and Samsung UK’s Simon Stanford:

[BBC iPlayer] has been a big push for us, and we’re looking at Sky Player too, which is something that’s going to be coming along too … If you look at evolution of where these kinds of apps are going to go, I think we’re [eventually] looking at an extension of a Sky box onto your phone”

Whether there’s anything worth watching is another matter.
