BEST DEALS: Samsung Galaxy S for £219 plus £10 top-up

Online retailer Mobiles.co.uk has gone DEALS CRAZY today, and is offering the very lovely 2010 edition Samsung Galaxy S for only £219 on a PAYG basis. You’ll have to pay another £10 on top of that for an accompanying Orange SIM card and some credit, but even so. EVEN SO.

With an Android 2.3 update floating about the airwaves for the Galaxy S right now, this is a cracking phone for the price. Also, Mobiles.co.uk usually sells its phones unlocked, so we’d imagine that Orange SIM could easily be lost on day one. You might want to check that with the shop before ordering, though, if that’s your plan.

Definitely unlocked according to this page: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/pay-as-you-go-deals.html

Nice phone and nice price. Considering buying this tomorrow to replace my aging HTC Hero.

  2. Already got one from them last week. Beware that it’s an 8GB model (can’t expect 16GB for such price). Also the process of buying from them must be more difficult that joining CIA. First of all they will only ship to your billing address (the one that’s associated with your card), so if you want to order it as a gift or to your work address, it’s a no go. Second, they’ve asked me to send a copy of my passport and a proof of address. And lastly, they will attempt to make multiple test transactions of one pound before actually charging your card, which got them block by my bank. What a pain!

I’m already put off by the fact I have to have it posted to my billing address, which is just a pain, especially since they’re using DHL. I don’t really fancy using my weekend to trek out to an industrial estate.

      • They actually use Yodel (maybe they’re a part of DHL), but the good news is that when they don’t deliver for the first time, they send you driver’s mobile number. You can then call him and arrange a more suitable time if possible.

Also, the driver said their depot is not open on Saturdays, even though the card he left said otherwise.
