Well that was quick. The popular Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet has started receiving its official update to the very latest Android 3.1 version of the tablet OS, with update notifications hitting European Transformers right now.
It’s an over-the-air update, too.
Thanks to reader Peter for the tip, who couldn’t resist getting in a dig at the poor XOOM owners out there…

/ June 1, 2011My Asus Arrived this morning. It’s on charge now, will be updating it to 3.1 later.
If SO impressed with this kit. It’s REALLY good. A bloke at work just had a toy with it, and put his iPad2 upon the noticeboard at work. LOL….

/ June 1, 2011I did it first thing. It’s a great machine – pity the charger is so flimsy. I’m on my 2nd Asus now, may have to exchange it for a third as the charger’s falling to bits. Asus, pull your finger out, it’s a bad design flaw. Send new ones out.

/ June 1, 2011Great, looking forward to it! My transformer with dock should arrive on friday, and this kind of update-behaviour is exactly what I hoped for :)

mynet dropping the connection
slowdown
a few crashes

/ June 1, 2011Can confirm – this is defo happening – OTA – takes about 10 mins to complete end to end, worked a treat. Didn’t have time to explore but confirmed the presence of 3.1 on the “about tablet” screen.

/ June 1, 2011Hi
When I press “Check Update” in settings/About Tablet/System Update,
all all I get is
“There is no update currently available for your device.” :(
I’m in the UK.

/ June 2, 2011I kept forcing check last night with no joy, but I turned the pad on this morning and it kicked off :) There are a few extra little programmes (a magazine reader and a movie editor by the look of it) and it seems that the whole thing is running a bit quicker, a bit smoother – although this could just be a placebo effrct.
I’ll run some movies and You Tube when I get home tonight tio see how things really stack up.
