There’s so much data in the latest Gartner global mobile phone data it’s hard to know where to begin. It shows that Nokia still leads the overall handset sales league, although it’s lost 5% of its market share over the last 12 months.
And incredibly, on a global basis. ZTE sold more units than HTC in the first quarter of 2011…
But that’s the entire market. In terms of smartphone sales alone, Android is the clear success story of the last 12 months…
…lifting its global smartphone market share from 9.6% in the first quarter of 2010 to 36% in the first quarter of 2011. That’s officially meteoric.
