The long-awaited arrival of the PopCap casual gaming catalogue on Android is nearly here – with the developer announcing that new title Chuzzle and Plants vs Zombies will both arrive this month.
Both games will appear first on the Amazon Appstore, though, with PopCap negotiating a two-week exclusivity deal with the US-only alternate distribution system. Here’s the official wordage:
As part of the agreement, Chuzzle® will be available beginning tomorrow through May 30, and will be followed by Plants vs. Zombies™ for Android during a second exclusive offer later this month. The games will be entirely FREE for the first day of their availability, after which they’ll be available for purchase and download for a list price of US$2.99 each

Chuzzle for Android features great, on-the-go gameplay action, including:
Four different modes providing infinite level configurations and virtually limitless game play:
Classic Mode: the original Chuzzle in all its glory
Zen Mode: stress-free, endless play without levels, locks or other constraints; the player’s progress is indicated by colorful markers that appear as higher thresholds of popped chuzzles are reached
Mind-Bender Mode: a different sort of Chuzzle puzzle in which players slide rows and columns of chuzzles to make specified patterns
Speed Mode: standard Chuzzle action – only faster (and harder!)
Trophy Room: your own personal “Hall of Fame” with more than twenty different trophies to collect and admire!
Scrambles: instantly shuffles all chuzzles on the board anytime you run out of options/moves; in the mobile version of the game, players can earn and save up to five scrambles at any given time, earning an additional scramble every 150,000 points
Dynamic Level Generation: ensures each game is different no matter how many times you play

/ May 16, 2011So what.. US only?
:
Not liking that trend.
Iain
/ May 16, 2011Yes, not really relevant to Eurodroid if it cannot be downloaded in Europe…
Gary C
/ May 16, 2011It’s a bit boring having to explain the reasoning behind every update :(
edhe
/ May 16, 2011What reason? Not seeing one.
Gary C
/ May 16, 2011Major publisher / exclusivity deal / Android / two weeks until arrival on Android Market and then – KAPOW! – availability around the world.
Even the fact that it WON’T initially be available in Europe is enough for me.
Ieuan
/ May 16, 2011So in the future it’ll be another game we can download from Android Market. Until then, it’s unavailable unless we live in the US.
I think this is why people reading a blog specifically for EU Android news don’t find this article particularly interesting.

/ May 16, 2011I need one of those animated bashing-head-against-wall smiley faces. I’ll see if there’s a plug-in.

Don’t worry about it mate, just ignore them. I’m pretty excited, as and when these come out in not-America they should be decent games! I almost lost my degree to one of their other titles – Peggle!
At least you avoid the usual apple/android/othersignificantOS arguments you get elsewhere on the web :D Gotta get your moronic comments from somewhere!
Iain
/ May 17, 2011Yeah I shouldn’t have been so grumpy. I’m really enjoying the blog Gary. :)

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be so critical. You have a great blog going here, it’s become one that I check daily. The general quality of your posts are awesome and just what I want to hear about.
I hadn’t heard of PopCap before so it sounded like a post about yet another US game release, bit of googling and it seems PopCap are pretty huge in casual gaming on a lot of different systems, your story now makes more sense. Please ignore me and continue :)
