LG’s large black slab hasn’t had the best reception, with users complaining of a few glitches and a weird random reboot error. Which may be the reason behind online retailer Play’s decision to discount the thing so soon after launch – it’s currently selling it for £379 .
For a dual-camera, dual-core Android phone with a 4″ screen and 1080p recording, that’s a rather good price…
…as long as you don’t mind its few eccentricities.
UPDATE:
As commenter Brypie observes, the 2X is now down to a literally unbelievable £329. We suspect LG and its retail partners saw sales drop to zero as soon as the Galaxy S II launched, and this is the retaliation.
LG’s in line for another world record – fastest and most aggressive post-launch discount of a dual-core smartphone.

/ May 15, 2011I’m currently running CM7 on my HTC Legend and love it.
Does CM7 on the 2X support the face recognition etc in the camera?
Is there any thing in the LG original ROM which CM7 can’t do?
mintvilla
/ May 15, 2011yeah it does support face recognition. Nope cm7 adds a ton of stuff to stock. The only thing its worse than is benchmarks…. (but they mean nothing)
Ofcause cm7 is still in nightlies stage but its on nightly 19 atm and well its near enough perfect

/ May 15, 2011What’s it like with the stock OS it comes with? Can’t be that bad surely?
mintvilla
/ May 15, 2011yes it is that bad!
the 2ox is has amazing hardware, shockingly bad software, alot of lag, freezes, and random reboots, along with the battery indicator not changing so that you think it hasnt charged overnight when its actually at 100%, lots and lots of bugs, like i said i can only recommonmend this phone to anyone that likes messing around with custom roms (perfect for me then lol)

/ May 15, 2011£329.99 now…

/ May 16, 2011People who totally slate the stock software are massively overstating the issue. I’ve come from CyanogenMod7 on my last phone, and am waiting for CM7 to be stable enough to run on this phone. The stock software is really pretty sweet. My only gripe with the handset is the black screen of death. Having said that my first handset had to replaced after a day. The replacement has done it once in a month, which is bearable until LG discover exactly what the issue is.
