One of the big announcements at today’s Google I/O conference is the arrival of Google Music Beta – the company’s long-awaited appearance in the “cloud locker” music world.
You will need a desktop application on Windows or Mac, which will sync your files to Google’s servers. The Android app will cache recently played tracks for offline listening, plus it’ll be possible to use a “make available offline” option to store favourite albums
That’s the Android 2.3 application. The app will require Android 2.2 or higher in order to work.
That’s the desktop app. Google Music is launching today via a private, invitation-based beta scheme to US users only at the moment :(
Music Beta is free “while in beta” which hints at a paid-for future.
