The US news sites have been going CRAZY over the discovery that HTC plans to sell the HTC Flyer’s capacitive stylus separately – and that is also set to be the case in the UK, too.
The official HTC Flyer Store, which HTC is running in conjunction with online retailer Expansys, currently lists a whole heap of HTC Flyer accessories – one of which is indeed the “HTC Flyer Magic Pen” with a price tag of £47.99 attached to it.
If it really is actually magical, £47.99 is a good price. According to the product listing on PC World, the “Digital scribe pen” IS included in the box when you buy the tablet, so this price is only the replacement cost. We hope that’s the case.
UPDATE:
HTC has just confirmed to us that the UK Flyer “will ship with the digital pen included”. Hooray.

/ May 7, 2011Surely this is only of any interest if the pen were to work with other tablets – which I assume it won’t. Otherwise it’s no more interesting than the myriad of other accessories / replacements you can buy for any tablet / phone.
Or am I missing something?

/ May 7, 2011That’s about right.
I think the “fuss” was that it was thought the stylus might not be in the box, and would have to be bought separately. But it is in the box.

/ May 7, 2011It looks like at least some US retailers will sell it without the Scribe pen.

/ May 8, 2011But the PC World listing only refers to the 3G version. Was HTCs assurance about all versions, including the 16 GB WiFi?

/ May 8, 2011It was clearly worded. I have no reason to suspect deception…
“…the UK HTC Flyer will ship with the digital pen included. A lot of news sites have picked up on the American version which is different”
