Garmin launches official OpenCaching Android app

Garmin has released an Android app it calls Garmin OpenCaching – designed to help GPS users search for and use geocaches on their Android phones. It pulls in data from www.opencaching.com, an open-source collection of user-generated geographic data.

Did that make it sound like we know what we’re talking about? Here’s what geocaching is, from an expert perspective:

“OpenCaching provides a free, simple and mobile option for geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunt popular around the world, where participants of all ages explore the outdoors, hiding and finding containers of various shapes and sizes”

Sounds like fun.

Read all about it over on Garmin’s blog. This sort of thing is a little over our heads, to put it mildly.

Thanks for the heads up, always fancied trying, but wasn’t going to pay to just try it out!
