Bad news for any remaining living/caring fans of Sega – the very, very slick and impressive Mega Drive emulator Gensoid has been removed from the Android Market. According to this unpronouncable blog which spoke to the developer, it was removed “at the request of Sega”.
Which is a bit of a shame, as the emulator didn’t come packaged with any ROMs and was actually only helping to keep the Japanese gaming company’s memory alive.
So as Android becomes more successful and visible, so THE MAN tries to exercise more control. That N64 emulator has been pulled, too. Link via Droid Gamers.

/ May 3, 2011Hopefully it will spur SEGA to release their own EMU. So many great developers on that platform- Psygnosis, Codemasters, Shiny Entertainment, EA, Bullfrog to name but a few. Happy times!

/ May 3, 2011If Sega had shown even a grain of interest in releasing titles for android then I could understand this. Seems likely that some over zealous legal department is throwing their weight arouns. Sad times…

/ May 3, 2011do you not think thats why sega, after being on the market for about 2 years, has done this now?
Since android now has the biggest marketshare, am sure SEGA are planning on bringing the iphone apps to android, and thus want the emulator of the market.
Doesnt affect me as can sideload apps lol
